Prof Rama Kant awarded FRCSI by Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Professor (Dr) Rama Kant was conferred upon the Fellowship by Special Election of the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI) on 12 July 2010. The Council of the Royal College of Surgeons at its meeting on 10th June 2010, elected Prof Rama Kant as a Fellow by Special Election in accordance with Charter bye-laws, and ordinances. Read more


Prof Rama Kant is the Head of the Surgery department at CSM Medical University (CSMMU, erstwhile KGMC) and is also a recipient of the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General’s International Award for tobacco control in the year 2005.

The convocation ceremony was held in the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland, and was graced by the President Eilis McGovern. She commended Prof Rama Kant for his contribution to surgery in her speech.

On Wednesday, 14 July, Prof Rama Kant will be received by ASH Ireland and Tobacco-free Research Institute, and on 15th of July, he has been invited by the Indian Embassy in Dublin, Ireland.

Prof Rama Kant is the President of Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) UP Chapter, and also is the President of the Lucknow College of Surgeons (LCS). He was elected as a Governing Council member of ASI (2010-2012).

Prof Rama Kant will return to India on 17th July.
