CNS: SHE & Rights (Sexual Health with Equity & Rights) Initiative

SHE & Rights (Sexual Health with Equity & Rights) initiative was launched in September 2024 to build, sustain and increase media understanding and engagement, around sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice (SRHRJ), bodily autonomy and other issues related to gender justice - with the lens of equity and human right to health in the Global South, with a particular focus on Asia Pacific and African regions.

SHE & Rights strengthens interface between media and other advocates and stakeholders to counter anti-rights narratives and anti-gender pushbacks, and advance gender equality and human right to health - both of which are indivisible fundamental human rights.

Co-hosted by Global Center for Health Diplomacy and Inclusion (CeHDI) and CNS, with International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), Asian-Pacific Resource & Research Centre for Women (ARROW) and Asia Pacific Media Alliance for Health and Development (APCAT Media), SHE & Rights was launched around Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2024, 79th United Nations General Assembly, and in lead up to the Contraception Day 2024 and Safe Abortion Day 2024 to counter the anti-rights and anti-gender pushbacks.

Several other groups have partnered with SHE & Rights sessions, including Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), Women Deliver Conference 2026, International Conference on Family Planning (IFCP 2025), Women’s Rights Caucus, Fos Feminista, Global Network of people living with HIV (GNP+), Global Network of Young people living with HIV (Y+ Global), Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD), The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FemNet), Outright International, Young Feminist Caucus, Cook Islands Family Welfare Association, Y-PEER Asia Pacific, NCPI+, Youth Lead Voices (India) and others.

1st Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards

In the lead up to 2024 Safe Abortion Day (and before regional reviews of Beijing+30 in Africa and Asia Pacific), 1st Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards 2025 was announced in September 2024. SHE & Rights Media Award Ceremony was hosted as part of a Side Event at 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78) in Geneva.

2nd Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards 2025

2nd Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards 2025 was announced at SHE & Rights Side Event around the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva. SHE & Rights Media Awards Ceremony was hosted at the International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP 2025) in Bogota, Colombia.

3rd Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards 2026

3rd Edition of SHE & Rights Media Awards 2026 were announced during 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence and Human Rights Day 2025. SHE & Rights Media Awards Ceremony was held at the Women Deliver Conference 2026 in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.
