[SDM Health Justice Lecture Series] Transforming research outcomes into public health gains: An urgent priority to #endTB

[Watch recording] [Listen to podcast] Dr Soumya Swaminathan, Director-General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has kindly consented to deliver the September 2017 e-talk/ online lecture as part of the Shanti Devi Memorial Health Justice Lecture Series. She will speak on "Transforming research outcomes into public health gains: An urgent priority to #endTB".


Dr Soumya Swaminathan is a distinguished name in health research with seminal medical research and clinical contribution to not only TB, childhood TB, but also spearheading initiatives on combating anti-microbial resistance (AMR), neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), as well as other critical public health challenges. Prior to heading ICMR, she was the Director of prestigious National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), an ICMR institute in Chennai, India.

The lecture will be chaired by one of the children of late Shanti Devi Shankhdhar who continues to champion health and social causes: Prof Rama Kant, WHO Director General's Awardee; former Chief Medical Superintendent of King George's Medical University and Gandhi Memorial and Associated Hospitals; 2012 President of Association of Surgeons of India; former Vice President of SAARC Surgeons and President of Lucknow College of Surgeons.
